Saint Joseph Hospital Employee Receives National Award for Infection Prevention

Lexington, Ky. (May 4, 2015)—A Lexington health professional has been honored for excellence in infection prevention. Dana M. Stephens, MT, CIC, executive director clinical and regulatory integration for KentuckyOne Health, has been selected as a nationally recognized “Hero of Infection Prevention,” by the Association for Professionals in Infections Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Each year, APIC presents this prestigious award to 12 members of the association, both inside and outside of the United States. The award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the development and application of innovative infection prevention programs.
 
Dana helped to develop three major quality improvement initiatives related to infectious disease and infection control, helping to improve the continuum of care at Saint Joseph Hospital.

She will be recognized with the award at the APIC Annual Conference In Nashville, set for June 27-29, 2015. As an honoree, she will also be a featured panelist at the “Knowledge Bar” a 45-minute interactive session with other subject matter experts, at the conference.
