Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Honors Outstanding Staff With Employee, Leader of the Year Awards for 2020
MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (Dec. 1, 2020) – Saint Joseph Mount Sterling has announced its 2020 Employee of the Year and Leader of the Year award recipients. Amber Davis, of Mount Sterling, an inventory specialist, earned the Employee of the Year award, and Jason Whaley, of Mount Sterling, manager of Facilities Services, was awarded Leader of the Year.
Saint Joseph Mount Sterling annually recognizes one outstanding Employee of the Year who demonstrates the core values of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence.
“Amber is always so cheerful and caring to her team,” a nominator said. “You can tell that she loves her job and has truly been called to serve. We as a hospital have gone through a lot of changes over the past year and in the midst of a pandemic, no less. Amber really rose the occasion and stepped up to fill any gap we had to ensure things ran smoothly.”
Those who nominated Davis referred to her as “a cheerful, caring team member” who is always willing to drop whatever she is working on to help her co-workers. For example, when the supply chain manager was out, Davis played a vital role in making sure the hospital always had adequate personal protective equipment.
Similarly, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling annually presents one employee serving in a managerial position with the Leader of the Year award. Selection criteria include an outstanding demonstration of leadership led by CHI Saint Joseph Health’s core values of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence.
“I have never seen Jason leave anyone out,” a nominator said. “He regularly volunteers for all events to make sure the load is shared and everyone is included. Whenever anything needs to be done, he is there to help in any way he can.”
Whaley was a 2019 recipient of the Beyond Exceptional Expectations (BEE) award, which is a recognition for non-nursing staff members who go above and beyond in their roles. Whaley has continued to excel in his position, and is described by co-workers as being a “team player with a positive, honest outlook.”
Both award winners were recognized during a special virtual ceremony.
