Saint Joseph London to Discuss Lyme Disease During Bite Size Learning Event
Free health education event on Wednesday, June 20 at Laurel County Public Library

London, Ky. (June 11, 2018) – Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health, invites the community to learn about Lyme disease at the free Bite Size Learning health education event on Wednesday, June 20. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Laurel County Public Library, located at 120 College Park Drive in London.

Joseph Silvers, DO, KentuckyOne Health Primary Care Associates in London will be the featured guest speaker at the program. Dr. Silvers will discuss Lyme disease, its symptoms and treatment options.

Each year, approximately 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by state health departments. Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease that is transmitted to humans by infected black-legged or deer ticks. Early signs and symptoms include chills, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, fever and swollen lymph nodes.

Bite Size Learning is an educational series sponsored by Saint Joseph London. Each month, a physician or staff member from Saint Joseph London hosts a special lunch-and-learn-style presentation on a different health topic to increase awareness and educate the public.
