Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Holds Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! 5K

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 23, 2021) – The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation will bring together and celebrate cancer survivors during its upcoming Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! 5K race in Nicholasville, on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m., at the RJ Corman racecourse.

This is the sixth anniversary of the race, which took a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! 5K, presented by RJ Corman Railroad Group, is open to runners of all ages. Support from the race provides free mammography and cervical cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, and program support to underinsured and uninsured patients across Kentucky. Every dollar raised will support Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! programs statewide.

“Raising awareness and support around mammograms and cervical screenings is critical,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “This 5K is so important, as it allows us to continue to raise funds to provide early detection services for patients who may not have been screened otherwise – it can be lifesaving. In the past, it was always a day to celebrate breast cancer survivors for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but with the addition of our new Yes, Cerv! program, we are proud to bring together even more survivors to raise awareness together.”

The Foundation launched the Yes, Cerv! program last year. Similar to Yes, Mamm!, this new cervical cancer screening initiative promotes Pap tests and HPV vaccinations, provides patients with cervical cancer screenings, early stage diagnoses and oncological pelvic treatment.

The Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! 5K will include cash prizes, medals, RJ Corman’s famous homemade ice cream, a hot lunch, and more. There will be a virtual option for those who cannot attend in person.

The race begins rain or shine at 9 a.m. Registration for the Yes, Mamm! Yes, Cerv! 5K will remain open until midnight Friday, Oct. 15. To register online, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/KY/Nicholasville/YesMamm5KatRJCorman.

R.J. Corman Railroad Group is located at 101 R.J. Corman Drive, Nicholasville, KY.
