Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East Are Nationally Recognized for Billing Ethics

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2022) – Money magazine and The Leapfrog Group have recognized Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East for billing ethics, deemed as “most likely to play fair with your bill.” The CHI Saint Joseph Health facilities are among seven hospitals in Kentucky selected for the groups’ list of Best Hospitals and Surgery Centers for Billing Ethics.

“We take great pride in providing patients excellent care from the moment they walk through our doors to the time they leave. We understand that trust is a key part of our reputation for quality service, and billing is no exception,” said Anthony A. Houston, Ed.D., FACHE, CEO, CHI Saint Joseph Health. “We are proud to be nationally recognized for our billing practices because we believe every interaction with patients demands humankindness and excellence.”

To compile its new list of the best hospitals and surgery centers for ethical billing practices in partnership with Money, The Leapfrog Group used data submitted via the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey and the 2022 Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center Survey.

To qualify for the list, eligible hospitals must carry an A or B letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for fall 2022. Both hospitals and surgical centers were also required to meet certain standards of billing ethics.

565 hospitals and 10 surgical centers made the cut for this list by Money and The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that aims to help consumers make informed decisions about their health and access safe, high-value care.

For over two decades, The Leapfrog Group has collected and published data on patient safety and quality of care from voluntary surveys and other sources. More than 2,200 hospitals and surgery centers completed its flagship Leapfrog Surveys in 2022.
