LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 29, 2024) – Saint Joseph East has been recognized as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® for 2024 for patient outcomes, according to an independent quality analysis based on a scorecard provided by PINC AI™, the technology and services brand of Premier, Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC and reported by Fortune). By category, the hospital is recognized among the top 20 medium-sized community hospitals in the nation. It is the fifth time Saint Joseph East has been recognized.
“Being recognized among the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® and top 20 medium-sized hospitals is truly an honor,” said Jennifer Nolan, president, Saint Joseph East. “We are proud to make this prestigious list for the fifth time, which would not be possible without our team’s dedication to providing the best care to our patients.”
To create the list, researchers from PINC AI analyzed Medicare data, including clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience and financial health, for 2,601 small, medium and large community hospitals, as well as teaching and major teaching hospitals. Organizations do not apply to participate in the study.
The top hospitals outperformed their peers in 10 key performance indicators. According to the analysis, if all hospitals performed like the top 100 hospitals, more than 350,000 additional patients would be saved, more than 607,000 individuals would not have in-hospital complications and more than 16,6000 patients would not have 30-day readmissions. All of these outcomes could amount to more than $17.6 billion in savings, according to a joint news release from Fortune and PINC AI. For complete methodology details, please review the study here.
“Our caregivers are focused on providing excellent and compassionate care, showing humankindness in every interaction,” said Anthony Houston, Ed.D., FACHE, market president, CHI Saint Joseph Health. “This recognition as a top 100 hospital is based on data that show our caregivers deliver on our vision to promote a healthier future for all.”
“Hospitals and health systems continue to recognize the vital importance of performance improvement for high-quality patient care, proving value and enabling the innovations that drive healthcare forward,” said Leigh Anderson, Premier’s chief operating officer and leader of PINC AI™. “The transparent, non-biased and actionable data helps to set performance standards for hospitals nationwide and enables leaders to make informed decisions for improvement as they work to improve outcomes for the patients and communities they serve.”
