BEREA, Ky. (July 27, 2022) – The Saint Joseph Berea Foundation, on behalf of Saint Joseph Berea, has received a $12,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children that will be used to help improve the facility’s emergency department equipment for pediatric patients. The equipment will enhance care for the more than 2,900 pediatric emergency room visits each year.
“A visit to the emergency room can be frightening for children,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, Saint Joseph Berea Foundation. “Thanks to the WHAS Crusade for Children, we will purchase vital equipment that will make the visit to the ER a little less stressful for of our most vulnerable patients during emergency medical situations.”
Saint Joseph Berea will use the grant to purchase vein finders to serve pediatric patients. The equipment will ensure that the medical staff can improve the efficiency and response time for treatment and care during urgent medical situations, when timing and equipment matters the most.
“We are committed to providing resources that serve children in need,” said Dawn Lee, president and CEO, WHAS Crusade for Children. “We are proud to support Saint Joseph Berea, because, as the only 24/7 critical access hospital in the community, it ensures children have access to emergency care closer to home.”
