Dr. Terrell was called to service in medicine at an early age. He credits wonderful parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches and mentors who helped serve as guideposts throughout his youth. His brother Dr. Freddie Terrell and other colleagues have also helped shape his career. He chose the field of urology because it offered a unique blend of surgery and primary care. The scope of urologic care is broad and encompasses men, women and all ages and demographics.
Dr. Terrell’s patient care philosophy centers on compassionate care through honest and direct communication. Other values he emphasizes are attention to detail, quality of care, and patient safety. He and his staff work hard to make themselves accessible to their patients.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College, Dr. Terrell went on to medical school at the University of Kentucky. He then moved to Iowa for urologic residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics before returning to Mount Sterling to begin his practice. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology. Additionally, he is a member of the American Urologic Association and the Kentucky Urologic Association. Dr. Terrell has done research and published studies in the areas of prostate cancer and urothelial cancer. A specific area of interest is advanced diagnostics in the area of prostate cancer screening and detection.
Throughout the years, Dr. Terrell has always maintained an office practice in Mount Sterling. He said of his joining the team of doctors of CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group, “I could not be more excited and happy to return to my roots and to continue to serve the wonderful people who have always been there for me.”
