LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2025) - CHI Saint Joseph Health formally welcomed Matt Grimshaw as its Market President during an investiture ceremony on Wednesday, February 19. The event recognized Grimshaw’s leadership and vision for advancing patient care and community health initiatives throughout the region.
Grimshaw joined CHI Saint Joseph Health, a member of CommonSpirit Health, in December 2024. He brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in Catholic hospitals across the country.
“I am honored to serve as the market president of CHI Saint Joseph Health,” said Grimshaw. “It is a privilege to lead an organization with such a deep commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. I look forward to working with our dedicated caregivers to expand access to essential health services in the communities we serve.”
Before stepping into his role at CHI Saint Joseph Health, Grimshaw served as president of Trinity Health System in Steubenville, Ohio, from 2017 to 2024. Under his leadership, Trinity underwent a $75 million expansion, resulting in a state-of-the-art medical complex and bridging critical gaps in health care services. Prior to that, Grimshaw was the West Region president of CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston, North Dakota, where he played a key role in expanding health care services and enhancing patient care.
“When we began the search for the new market president, we were committed to finding a leader who embraces our legacy, supports our mission, especially serving the vulnerable, and strategically advancing innovations that lead us into the future. Matt demonstrated them all,” said Winston Griffin, chair, CHI Saint Joseph Health Board of Directors. “His vision and strategic approach will strengthen our mission to serve the health care needs of our communities.”
Grimshaw is also invested in cultivating the next generation of health care professionals. In Ohio, he championed the development of post-graduate medical education programs at Trinity, a model he seeks to support in Kentucky through partnerships that train and inspire young professionals.
Grimshaw holds an MBA from Wake Forest University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Dr. Annette Grimshaw, have three children. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys traveling with his family and prioritizing visits with friends around the world.
