Healthgrades Names Saint Joseph Hospital One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals

LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 23, 2024) – Saint Joseph Hospital has received national accolades for being one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2024, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. This is the second year in a row Saint Joseph Hospital has been recognized among the top 2% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance and, along with numerous other accolades from Healthgrades, reflects Saint Joseph Hospital’s commitment to exceptional patient care.

“Being named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2024 is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our exceptional health care team,” said Anthony Houston, Ed.D., FACHE, CEO, CHI Saint Joseph Health. “This prestigious accolade reflects our ongoing pursuit of excellence in patient care, innovation and community well-being. We remain steadfast in our mission to provide the highest quality health care, and this honor motivates us to continue raising the bar for the benefit of those we serve.”

To determine the top hospitals for 2024, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Unlike other hospital studies, Healthgrades ratings are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. The 2024 Healthgrades analysis revealed significant variation in hospital performance, making it increasingly important to seek care at top-rated programs. From 2020-2022, if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to America’s 100 Best Hospitals, 180,413 lives could have been saved.*

“Healthgrades commends Saint Joseph Hospital for their leadership and continued dedication to high quality care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals, Saint Joseph Hospital is elevating the standard for quality care nationwide and ensuring superior outcomes for the patients in their community.”

In November 2023, Saint Joseph Hospital was recognized by Healthgrades for its cardiac, neurosciences, pulmonary, gastrointestinal and critical care service lines. The facility received Five-Star recognition in each of these areas, was one of the Top 5% in the Nation for both Pulmonary and Critical Care Services, among the Top 10% in the Nation, and was also among the Top 100 Best Hospitals for both Pulmonary and Critical Care Services for the past six years in a row. Saint Joseph Hospital was also named among America’s Top 100 Hospitals by Healthgrades in early 2023.
