Frazier Rehab To Host Summer Fest June 7

Event includes Annual Larosa Loop Fundraiser

Louisville, Ky. (May 16, 2014)—Frazier Rehab Institute, part of KentuckyOne Health, invites families to enjoy some summer fun at Frazier Rehab Summer Fest on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

The day will begin with the Larosa Loop, an annual non-competitive run/walk/wheel fundraising event that supports pediatric care for children coping with disabling illnesses and injuries. The event will begin at Frazier Rehab, 220 Abraham Flexner Way, and follow the Mayor’s Mile walking route around the KentuckyOne Health downtown medical campus. Participants can choose a one-, three- or five-mile route.

Funds raised by the Larosa Loop will be used to enhance and expand Frazier Rehab’s pediatric rehab program. A partnership with the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center at the University of Louisville and the scientists who conduct premier, cutting-edge research assures that the pediatric team at Frazier Rehab daily delivers the most advanced rehabilitation program promoting the greatest recovery for children with severe injuries.

The Larosa Loop honors the memory of Dr. Ethel Larosa-Klemens, a pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who passed away on October 26, 2006 after a 15-month battle with cancer. She was a member of the American Medical Society, Kentucky Medical Society, Greater Louisville Medical Society, Executive Committee of Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, Adopt-a-Student Pilot Program, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Advisory Committee at the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs and Filipino-American Society.

Registration for the Larosa Loop is $15 per person and includes lunch and t-shirt. Other donations are accepted and all contributions are tax deductible as permitted by law. To register please go to: http://larosaloop.kintera.org.  Day-of registration begins at 9 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m.  Other activities of the day include a Vendor’s Village with 34 companies showcasing their information and items, a cake walk, carnival games, basket raffles and corn hole.
