Flaget Memorial Hospital Presents 2nd Annual HeartChase June 22

Bardstown, Ky. (June 17, 2013)—Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, will present the 2nd annual HeartChase on Saturday, June 22, to benefit the American Heart Association.

HeartChase is a unique fundraising event featuring the around-town excitement from shows like The Amazing Race™ combined with wacky team-based games like Minute-to-Win-It™. HeartChase brings friends and neighbors together in teams of two to five people for a competition to solve puzzles and complete challenges in a race to see who can earn the most points before the game ends.

The event will span about a mile around downtown Bardstown and participants will pass through 10-15 checkpoints along the way.  At each checkpoint, they will be required to answer health trivia questions and find clues before they can proceed.

The event will begin on the lawn of Spalding Hall, located at 114 N. 5th Street in Bardstown, at 9:30 a.m.  Teams are encouraged to come in costume, and awards will be presented for the best-dressed team and the team with the most pre-event fundraising for the American Heart Association.

“Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans and we are proud to support the American Heart Association’s efforts to raise awareness in our community,” said Sue Downs, president, Flaget Memorial Hospital.

HeartChase participants are encouraged to come prepared to get messy! Older children are welcome to partake in the fun.  A children’s play area will also be set up for those who do not join the Chase.

HeartChase is a unique event to raise awareness and funds in the fight against heart disease,” Heather Mattingly, director, cardiopulmonary services, Flaget Memorial Hospital. “We’re excited to support the American Heart Association and have some fun along the way!”
