Flaget Memorial Hospital Nationally Recognized With an ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Nov. 10, 2021) – Flaget Memorial Hospital has received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021; this is the fourth time in the past three years the hospital has been recognized by Leapfrog. This national distinction recognizes Flaget’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. Flaget also received an “A” grade in fall 2020 and spring 2021.

“We want all patients to know that when they walk through our doors, they can expect the very best care from our team, and this designation further demonstrates our commitment to their overall safety and well-being,” said Jennifer Nolan, president, Flaget Memorial Hospital. “We are proud to again have received ‘As’ in three consecutive grading cycles.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems that hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of Flaget Memorial Hospital for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
