Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation Recognizes 2019 Bruce A. Klockars Employee Scholarship Award Recipients - Archived

Bardstown, Ky. (September 23, 2019) — Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation recognized the recipients of this year’s Bruce A. Klockars Employee Scholarship Awards with a ceremony and check presentations at Flaget Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 16. These scholarships provide financial assistance for continued education to hospital employees who demonstrate exceptional career potential and a drive to achieve personal and academic goals.

The 2019 recipients include: Marlene Hardin, Ashley Hughes, Katie Jackson, Melissa Johnson, Emily Lanham Butts, Katy Marcum, Janelle Mattingly, Savannah Nash, Melinda Obryan, Jan Ostbloom, Janet Simpson and Wendy Welch.

“We are proud to help our dedicated and hard-working employees continue their education in the medical field with these scholarships, made possible by the Bruce Klockars Education Fund,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, President, Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Scholarship funding may be used to further a degree or obtain accreditation, as well as to purchase such things as books, study guides and exams.”

The Bruce Klockars Education Fund was established in 2011 by Flaget Memorial Hospital employees to honor Bruce Klockars for his 11 years of service as president of the hospital. The initiatives supported by the fund promote the development of enhanced caregiving, advance the practice of health care to the highest standards, and enable the hospital to continue recruiting and retaining the best and brightest personnel at every level.
