Continuing Care Hospital Receives Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award for 12th Time

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March, 14, 2024) – Continuing Care Hospital received a 2024 Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Award on Tuesday, March 13, recognized in the Rehab/Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals category.  This is the 12th time CCH has received a KHA Quality Award. 

The facility was recognized for its its commitment to quality innovation and leadership, specifically collaborative work completed in the field to decrease hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI), pressure injuries that can lead to sepsis or surgical interventions. 

The KHA Quality Awards recognize hospital leadership and ingenuity in maintaining quality and safety, and dedication to patient care. This annual award aims to raise awareness of the necessity for a comprehensive organizational dedication to consistently delivering exceptional quality, reliability, and patient-centered care. Additionally, it honors successful initiatives aimed at fostering improvements and advancements in the quality of care provided.

We understand and stress the need to take proactive measures to mitigate the occurrence of these injuries."

CCH is a long-term acute care hospital located within Saint Joseph Hospital. It operates as a “hospital within a hospital” and offers multiple services to manage complex medical needs that require an extended hospital stay. Its population includes medical, surgical, telemetry, and intensive care unit (ICU) patients with acute conditions with an average stay of 25 days.

Established in 2002, the facility is licensed as a general acute care hospital that serves residents of central and eastern Kentucky, and addresses the unique and complicated physical, emotional, spiritual, nursing and rehabilitation needs of long-term patients.
