CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Obstetrics and Gynecology Welcomes New Family Nurse Practitioner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 21, 2023) – Colleen Honey, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, has joined the CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) team in Lexington. As a family nurse practitioner, Honey is passionate about obstetrics and gynecology and is dedicated to helping women in the Lexington area achieve optimal health and wellness.

Honey said she discovered her passion for medicine early on in life. “When I was a child, I always knew I wanted to care for other people, especially women and children,” said Honey. “I spent 10 years of my nursing career doing just that in a high-risk labor and delivery setting.”

Before beginning her labor and delivery nursing career, Honey earned an associate degree in nursing from Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington in 2013. In 2021, she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Western Governors University. As her career in labor and delivery progressed, Honey wanted to advance how she served patients and be involved in all aspects of their care, so she returned to school to further her education and become a family nurse practitioner. She earned her Master of Science in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2021 to begin this new career chapter.

Now, as a family nurse practitioner, Honey can stay with her patients across their lifespan, being there as they start families while following along with their health journeys.

“I like seeing my patients multiple times throughout the years and getting to know them one-on-one,” said Honey. “My care philosophy is centered around treating each person as a whole, listening to them and never judging them, so being able to stay connected and up to date with my patients is really special.”

While she is a Lexington native, Honey currently resides in Paris, Kentucky, where she enjoys spending time with her four children, watching them play baseball and raising chickens on their farm.
