LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 17, 2024) – CHI Saint Joseph Health has named Christy Spitser as the interim market president, replacing Anthony Houston, Ed.D., FACHE, who has accepted the role of market president for the CommonSpirit Health Arizona market. CHI Saint Joseph Health is also a member of CommonSpirit. Spitser, who has been with the ministry for 24 years, serves as the market vice president for operational finance and takes over the interim role today.
"I am deeply honored and excited to serve in this interim role. When I joined this organization 24 years ago, I was immediately drawn to our mission, who we are, what we do, and having the opportunity to serve in an organization that is grounded in being the healing presence of God to those we serve” Spitser said. “Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication of our employees and leaders, who are deeply committed to delivering on our promise to provide excellent, compassionate care.”
Spitser is committed to continued growth of the organization.
“I am pleased with the progress we have made, expanding our services and improving the health of our communities, and I am committed to building on this momentum to ensure that our organization continues to be a beacon of hope and healing for those we serve,” she said.
During her tenure with Saint Joseph, Spitser has steadily risen through the ranks from staff accountant to her current position as market chief financial officer. Her journey began at Saint Joseph London, where she progressively took on additional responsibilities, leading to progressive leadership roles in Saint Joseph Health. These roles included accounting manager, controller, vice president of finance and vice president of Operational Finance. In 2017, Spitser was named market vice president of operational finance, and in 2019, she took on the additional role of vice president of operations at Saint Joseph London. In 2020, she was appointed market chief financial officer.
Spitser is a native of London, Kentucky, where she lives with her husband, Ryan, and children, Lexi and Triston. She holds a bachelor’s of business administration from Eastern Kentucky University, and a master’s of business administration from Bellevue University.
CommonSpirit South Region President Doug Lawson said Spitser’s extensive experience and proven leadership will be invaluable to Saint Joseph Health during this transition period.
“She is a proven team builder and facilitator, fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and high performance,” he said. “Her results-driven approach and ability to manage complex projects have consistently delivered positive outcomes.”
CommonSpirit Health has launched a national search for a permanent market president.
