CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group Recognizes Outstanding Medical Staff and Leaders With Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 4, 2023) – CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group has announced its 2022 Physician of the Year, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year, Employee of the Year and Leader of the Year award recipients.

  • Dr. Lucia Hardi, a rheumatologist at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Rheumatology in Lexington, of Lexington, was recognized as Physician of the Year.
  • Rebecca Kraftick, PA-C, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Cardiology in Lexington, of Lexington, was recognized as APP of the Year.
  • Mary Jointer, a float office supervisor at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Neurology of Danville, was recognized as Employee of the Year.
  • Crystal Thomas, a manager clinic practice II at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Winchester, of Mount Sterling, was recognized as Leader of the Year.

Each year, the CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group recognizes an outstanding Physician of the Year and Advanced Practice Provider of the Year who work to help to build healthier communities, as well as exhibit CHI Saint Joseph Health’s core values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence and collaboration. Dr. Lucia Hardi was nominated for Physician of the Year by her colleagues.

“I have never witnessed such a compassionate provider. Dr. Hardi truly gives each patient the care they deserve no matter if they are new or patients that have been with her for years,” said a nominator. “She checks on patients she knows are having problems in the evenings and weekends. Dr. Hardi will give each patient as much of her time as they require and sometimes more. She remembers patients and their problems even if she hasn't seen them in over a year or more. It's truly remarkable the care she gives to each of her patients.”

This year’s Advanced Practice Provider of the Year, Rebecca Kraftick, was also nominated by her colleagues.

“Becky has taken a strong leadership role with the Kentucky APP Mentoring program,” said a nominator. “She is key contributor on the Recruitment and Retention Committee of the Medical Group Board and has completed the national provider leadership academy. She has also been instrumental in assisting Dr. (Dan) Goulson (chief medical officer) with projects related to COVID. Most of all, Becky really owned and drove the APP appreciation week to make that event a great success --not just the dinner meeting; she went on a road show to meet with APPs all across the entire market and drop off treats. Becky has demonstrated commitment and leadership in many ways in addition to her role as a clinician.”

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group also recognizes an Employee of the Year and Leader of the Year who go above and beyond their duties and demonstrate the health care system’s core values.

This year’s CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group Employee of the Year is Mary Jointer.

“Mary is very kind and she does what she can to help each individual. I refer to her as the ‘mother’ of the float pool,” a colleague wrote in her nomination. “Mary is always showing the utmost respect and is very thoughtful in all that she does. A little respect goes a long way… She is always sharing helpful advice and has a very big job and handles it well. Mary is very dedicated and puts others first.”

Crystal Thomas has been named this 2022’s Leader of the Year, recognized for her outstanding leadership in a managerial position.

“Crystal is an outstanding person,” said a nominator. “She values all her employees’ needs and is approachable and sympathetic. Crystal makes sure that we have every resource available to us and always keeps us updated with what is going on in the practice.”

All award winners were recently recognized during a special event and will be celebrated during the CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations’ Humankindness Gala in Lexington on April 15.
