LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2024) – CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Express Care has welcomed Rebecca Gayheart, PA-C, to its distinguished team at Palomar Centre. Originally from Pippa Passes, Kentucky, Gayheart is looking forward to extending her compassionate approach to patient care to the practice.
When Gayheart began thinking about her professional career, she knew she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives through medicine. Although initially drawn to a pharmacy career, she said she discovered her calling to be a physician assistant while attending the University of Kentucky.
“My favorite part about being a physician assistant is being able to help people,” said Gayheart. “I like to treat every one of my patients like they’re a member of my family and provide them with empathetic and passionate care.”
Through her patient care philosophy, Gayheart emphasizes the importance of collaboration, education and advocacy. “I believe in involving my patients in the decision-making process so we can make their treatment plans together,” said Gayheart. “I also strive always to be a support system for my patients because they may not have anyone else advocating for them.”
Gayheart earned her Bachelor’s in Allied Health and Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky. With more than 25 years of experience, Gayheart has spent most of her career as a physician assistant in emergency departments and urgent care centers.
Aside from serving her patients, Gayheart enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, attending concerts, cooking, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
