LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2021) – Janell Samuels, Market Director of Proposal Development, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations, has been named to the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s (AHP) 2021 40 Under 40 list.
The 40 Under 40 program is designed to recognize the future leaders within the health care philanthropy community. AHP honors 40 young professionals who are shaping the future of the health care development industry. Collectively, these health care leaders are changing the world – one campaign at a time.
“We are extremely proud of Janell’s success,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. “She has focused her career on driving a mission of helping those in need, and that is evident in the millions of dollars that she has secured for CHI Saint Joseph Health and its facilities. Her passion and dedication to serving her community have not gone unnoticed, and she is very deserving of this recognition.”
As a health care philanthropy professional specializing in grants, community relations and academic partnerships, Samuels has secured more than $21 million in funding and leads grant proposal development at a significantly higher rate than the industry. She is also an award-winning writer in both business and health care fields, and she has led increased grant revenue year-over-year by an average of 153%. Most recently, Samuels completed a $1.5 million fundraising initiative, including a $990,510 award from the Appalachian Regional Commission, to construct a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Saint Joseph London.
“These honorees are part of a select group who have demonstrated impressive career achievements, deep community involvement, and outstanding leadership in all they do,” said Alice Ayres, president and CEO, AHP.
Samuels will be recognized at the 2021 AHP Annual International Conference, being held virtually on October 20-21.
