CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center in Lexington Adds Family Nurse Practitioner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 3, 2025) – CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care in Lexington welcomes Malia Dimeling, FNP-C, to its team. With 20 years of nursing experience, including a decade teaching at Riverside College of Health Careers in Newport News, Virginia, Dimeling says she is eager to return to patient care and serve the Lexington community.

“I can’t imagine a place that would be more rewarding,” said Dimeling. “The CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center in Lexington has a lot to offer in terms of treatment and research, and I’m excited to dive in and learn more about the incredible work here.”

Dimeling said many people she is close to have been impacted by cancer, and she is passionate about helping others going through this experience. Her approach to caring for each patient is leading with compassion and respect, actively listening to their concerns, involving them in all decisions about their care and advocating for them throughout their treatment. “With cancer patients, it’s a very scary time in their life, so being able to connect with them and help them through their treatment is really rewarding.”

Dimeling spent the first decade of her career gaining experience as a registered nurse in intensive care units in Cincinnati, Ohio, and San Francisco and Palo Alto, California, including serving in trauma, transplant and neurology units at Stanford Hospital. Dimeling earned her nursing degree from The Christ College of Nursing and Health Professions in Cincinnati and her Master of Science in nursing from the University of San Francisco. She is enrolled at the University of Kentucky, where she most recently graduated from the family nurse practitioner post-master’s certificate program. She is involved in various nursing organizations, including the National League of Nurses, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Nurses Association and the Kentucky Nurses Association.

Dimeling is married to Dr. George Dimeling, a cardiothoracic surgeon with CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group in Lexington. Together, they have one daughter, two dogs and a pet rabbit. In her free time, Dimeling enjoys spending quality family time, including cooking, playing games, watching movies, and attending charity events with her husband.
