Birth Center at Flaget Memorial Hospital Receives $38,000 Grant to Enhance Newborn Care and Safety

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (July 24, 2023) – The Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation, on behalf of Flaget Memorial Hospital, has received a $38,000 grant from the WHAS Crusade for Children that will be used to purchase vital equipment that will enhance newborn care and safety.

The grant will help acquire Panda Warmers, Vapotherm high-velocity therapy devices, and bili lights that are equipped with the latest technology and innovative capabilities. The new equipment will provide temperature regulation to at-risk newborns, oxygen therapy, and light therapy for those experiencing jaundice.

“Our unwavering goal is to ensure that Flaget Memorial Hospital remains at the forefront of delivering exceptional care to every patient,” said Delaine Thiel, vice president of philanthropy, Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation. “We are committed to the health and well-being of our communities, and this grant provides the necessary resources for equipment to meet the needs of our tiniest patients.”

Jennifer Nolan, president of Flaget Memorial Hospital, said the new equipment enhances the care provided to newborns at the hospital. “These tools are indispensable for our patients and will help our caregivers to monitor, treat and provide comfort to newborns during a critical period,” Nolan said. “We are committed to providing the highest quality care in these early days of life and appreciate the commitment WHAS Crusade for Children has provided for Flaget patients over the years.”

“We are honored to support Flaget Memorial Hospital in their ongoing efforts to continually improve services for at-risk newborns,” said Dawn Lee, president and CEO, WHAS Crusade for Children. “The provision of quality care for newborns is paramount, and we take great pride in contributing to the realization of a bright and healthy future for these children.”
