6th Annual Saint Joseph Berea Foundation Gala for Healing and Hope Raises Nearly $35,000 - Archived
Berea, Ky. (March 7, 2019) – The 6th Annual Saint Joseph Berea Foundation Gala raised nearly $35,000, which will go toward the Lights for Life Fund, helping provide emergency assistance and medications year-round for underinsured and low-income patients in the Berea area. The gala was held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at The Churchill Company and featured dinner, live music from ENCORE of Lexington, dancing and a silent auction.
“We are so thankful for the community support we receive each year for this event, which will help raise money to assist those in need,” said Leslie Smart, president, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations and Saint Joseph Berea Foundation. “The Lights for Life Fund has had significant need over the past several years, and money raised from the Gala will help maintain the level of assistance for these patients for years to come.”
During this event, a local physician who is making an impact in the community is also honored. This year, the Physician Service Award was awarded to Mary Ellen Shields, MD, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Surgery, who has cared for patients in the Berea area for 24 years.
Saint Joseph Berea is celebrating 120 years in the Berea community. In the past six years, the Gala for Healing and Hope has raised more than $150,000 to invest in outstanding patient care facilities and services, the education of health caregivers, advanced clinical research and improved access to quality medical care.
Sponsors of the Saint Joseph Berea Foundation Gala included Cumberland Valley National Bank (Entertainment Sponsor), Sound Physicians (Carpet Sponsor), and Ivey Mechanical (Reception Sponsor), and Citizens Guaranty (Hope Sponsor).
