It’s been a busy two years of growth and change for oncology service line market director Greg Bodager.
Between expanding the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center affiliation, standardizing care across the market, implementing a new multidisciplinary conference to ensure patients receive well-rounded care and transitioning to the Epic electronic health record system, Greg said he and the entire team at CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care are on their toes.
“We have an incredible team that has made all of this happen to the benefit of our patients,” Greg said. “It’s humbling. We’re blessed with team members who stepped up and those who joined us during the changes. We couldn’t have done it without them.”
Greg said he is excited for the next change, Epic EHR. Epic will streamline communication between the cancer care centers and our other facilities, improving the patient’s experience and referral process.
“It is a gross understatement to say I’m super excited for Epic,” Greg said. “I worked at an organization that used Epic, so I’m familiar with what it brings.”
With many successes to count as blessings, Greg didn’t start in the health care field. He said he felt a calling 12 years ago and followed it to his current role. Greg moved into a leadership role eight years ago. He was named CHI Saint Joseph Health Corporate Leader of the Year in 2021.
“I had been working outside of health care and felt like I was being led into nursing,” Greg said. “I have many family members who are in health care, and it seemed like a good fit.
“I had no intention of moving into leadership, but the opportunity led me to it and I responded to what was in front of me. My faith is at the core of what drives me. It’s what brings meaning to everything I do.”
Outside of work, Greg enjoys spending time with his family, his wife and four children. He also spends time reading and hiking, finding peace in nature.
