Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heartbeat caused by what physicians liken to a problem with the electrical wiring of the heart. Dr. George Dimeling talks about treating this condition.

George Dimeling, MD with CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group - Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery

Medications can be the first line of treatment that stabilize the heart rhythm. Interventional procedures, where a wire is brought in through a blood vessel can treat certain areas of the heart. And then level three would be an open surgical procedure where we find the conduction problems and isolate them from the heart so that they can't cause confusion in the wiring system any longer.

Treatment for A-fib should be individualized for each patient.

We have tremendous experience in very complex heart wiring problems. So patients get the full battery of options.
