LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 10, 2022) – CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations have awarded scholarships to 30 employees at CHI Saint Joseph Health facilities across Kentucky to advance their education in health care. In total, $47,300 in scholarships were given to employees at Continuing Care Hospital, Flaget Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph Berea, Saint Joseph East, Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph Jessamine, Saint Joseph London, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling and CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group.
“We are proud to encourage the educational endeavors of CHI Saint Joseph Health employees,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. “Providing this financial assistance would not be possible without the generous support of our community donors to whom we are incredibly thankful.”
The following employees were selected as a recipient of a scholarship:
Continuing Care Hospital
- Christiana Donkor, RN, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University
- Jadyn Rose, monitor tech/health unit coordinator, who is pursuing an associate degree in respiratory care from Bluegrass Technical and Community College
Flaget Memorial Hospital
- Leigh Johnson, emergency department technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Galen College of Nursing
- Heather Mattingly, quality manager, Quality, Risk and Safety, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Western Governors University
Saint Joseph Berea
- Adriana Cashin, emergency department technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Somerset Community College
- Anna Spurlock, appointment scheduler, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Berea, who is pursuing a Master of Health Administration from Northern Arizona University
- Sheila Young, CMA, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Berea, who is pursuing an LPN from Medical Career Technical College

- Donna Hart, RN, Sleep Center, who is pursuing a Master of Science in nursing-primary care FNP from Indiana Wesleyan University
- Emily Pettingle, executive assistant, Administration, who is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Capella University
- Katelyn Ratliff, phlebotomist, laboratory, who is pursuing an Associate of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University
- Kelly Parrett, MLT, oncology laboratory, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS) from the University of West Florida

- Ashli Nelson, intern, nursing, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Morehead State University
- Beverly Blanton, provider system specialist, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group, who is pursuing an associate degree in health information technology from Jefferson Community and Technical College
- Dielle Crasta, patient care assistant, neuro ICU, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky
- Ha’Jra Winn, monitor tech/patient care assistant, med-surg, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Galen College of Nursing
- Kristine Elhert, market director of clinical ethics, Mission Integration, who is pursuing a degree in bioethics from Loyola University Chicago
- Kristin Meyer, pharmacy technician, pharmacy, who is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration at the University of Kentucky
- Hayley Peters, patient care assistant, med-surg, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Bluegrass Community and Technical College
- Marissa Stephens, certified pharmacy technician, pharmacy, who is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky
- Nolana McWhorter, certified pharmacy technician, pharmacy, who is studying pre-pharmacy at Eastern Kentucky University
- Riane Clark, patient care assistant/nurse extern, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky
- Rosine Yanyi, certified surgical technologist, operating room, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Bluegrass Community and Technical College
Saint Joseph Jessamine
- Leigh Middleton, emergency department technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Midway University
Saint Joseph London
- Brittany McKinney, medical receptionist, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in London, who is pursuing a degree from Somerset Community College
- Hannah Cooksey, appointment scheduler, neurology, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from Eastern Kentucky University
- Kristen Spitser, RN, ICU, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lincoln Memorial University
- Morgan “Taylor” Jackson, emergency department technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Somerset Community College
- Sabrina Lambert, APRN, pulmonary, who is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Northern Kentucky University
Saint Joseph Mount Sterling
- Austie Stewart, certified pharmacy technician, pharmacy, who is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Morehead State University
- Nora Young, RN, employee health lead, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the Cumberlands
The scholarships were awarded to the employees in October. Employees are eligible to apply for the scholarships after they have been with the organization for one year. As part of the application, the employees are asked to share how they will use their education to continue their call to serve at CHI Saint Joseph Health.
